Do the Dying Really Go “Into the Light”?
Taking a closer look at one of the innermost concerns about dying

One of the most-asked questions about death is, “What happens when we die?”
If you’ve watched someone die, as I have, you’re struck with the notion that something — some form of invisible energy — leaves the body at the moment of death. It’s so obvious. What we love and relate to is the “beingness” of the individual (even if it’s a pet). That unique essence or consciousness departs the physical body when the individual dies.
The beloved being is there one moment, gone the next. What’s left behind is only a shell of the person or pet who meant so much to us.
